Words will not be minced. The vote is in. The shame is apparent for those who voted (those who actually lifted their asses off the couch and voted) and voted blue. While the GOP laughs its own ass off at the expense of an America I used to know, we need to accept that people of both parties blew it off. Some of us displayed their colors – loud and true but anyone who whines needs to shut up. The Democrats royally, bluely screwed up. But I suspect they tried hard to win. Just not hard enough.
The voting majority population of America has revealed themselves to be basically bigots over the last two terms of the Obama presidency. These folks who cling to GOP antiquated platforms and policy; who cannot seem to get their mouths around the word oligarchy (but apparently embrace it with gusto), are complicit in the worst bigotry I have witnessed in my voting life. Forget policy, decisions, progress, lack of it, programs, innovations, missteps from the Oval Office. Forget all that. We have had many worse jerks sitting there and we all know who they have been. So jerkishness is not the issue. Lack of education and integrity isn’t the issue, golf isn’t the issue, sex, drugs and rock and roll isn’t the issue. Barack Obama’s only shortcoming – right in the door, was being Black. If anyone wants to pretend it isn’t true, then go for it but it is the unvarnished truth and it has been the real issue driving the GOP since the 2008 Election. (that, and the pre-oath Nobel Prize, didn’t help either). The votes came in and they were counted and Mr. Obama won the election. Which was such a stunning blow to our aryan nation and other small-minded, pistol packing populace, they spent their holidays trying to figure out how to undo this hideous wrong. And it wasn’t just Obama, but his Black wife, two Black children and his Black mother-in-law. And oh the places they went. That toke, that mosque, that trip to Nairobi, the Hawaiian press, the Halls of Records and eventually the courts. All that effort wasted on lies and conspiracy theory because no one could say, dared say, would say: “Well, the main issue is that he’s Black”. So add in hypocrisy to the mix. Because, to my mind, that has always been the one and only issue. He wakes up in the White House Black, he gives speeches, Black, he is Commander-in-Chief, Black. (what about that stank salute?) How could this have happened and how can it be stopped? If the election of Barack Obama told Black Americans one thing, it said, loud and clear – “you do not belong in the White House”. What should have been inspirational, uplifting and encouraging to this built on slavery nation, should have been the achievement of this election. Wrong. What it said in fact was: “watch us make him dance Jim Crow.” We will screw him in the Congress, will mock him on the golf course, ruin his vacations, whisper about his daughters’ private parts; we will undermine his decisions, we will schlep repeatedly to the Supreme Court and we will have interstellar media to broadcast loud and clear. Entrance and exit polls, Silver and Gold to show the United States what a huge mistake they made. And aren’t they glad that now have a Congress that will do all they can to right this grave wrong. And watch as we acquire huge amounts of money from corporations who can only benefit from a juicy free market economy government. Occupy? They occupy. They occupy Wall Street, some of the Supreme Court and the economy. They are the minions; Kochs, the Adelsons (bad for the Jews especially), the Walmarts, the Ailes, the Murdochs, Big Tobacco, Big Pharma and so many others that lurk in plain view.
Who remembers JFK? Well, I do and I remember how the nation cringed at the idea that a Roman Catholic was going to run for the Presidency. Oh damn. Here comes the Pope, the ornate censers, the holy water fonts and we cannot allow that. Those things never happened, but by God, it was still stopped short. JFK may have died from lack of electronic media. The poor man was a physical wreck, he was heavily medicated and a skirt chaser. But it wasn’t “known or shown” due to the lack of technology. I remember seeing the picture of Lee Harvey Oswald shot by Jack Ruby on the front page, for heaven’s sake! Who ever thought of that happening. In public. Those days are gone.
So now for the last two years of this beleaguered man’s administration, the gloating GOP; drunk, sober, felonious, old, male, mostly white and misogynistic will roll like dogs in shit and howl at the moon as they are allowed by popular vote, to carry on their malfeasance. How much better can it get until 2016.*
I simply hope that when Mr. Obama leaves the White House – in these lame duck sessions of Congress, he will go out quacking loud and strong.
*(Hint to Democrats: Do not nominate anyone who absolutely cannot or will not win due to gender, age, color, creed or decent morality. Just don’t do it.).

These are what I would like to ask him and I would like reasonable, logical and substantiated answers: Describe for me the LGBT “Agenda”. How does it work? How do you “turn” kids gay? Exactly how does it happen? Is it the soft massage of their brains that do it? No? Oh you’re not sure exactly how it happens but you know that LGBT is like a “cult” that preys on kids? Why? I would ask you this – when you were a adolescent, to which gender were you attracted? It is that simple. If your first crush and every subsequent romantic or physical feeling you had was for the opposite sex – you consider that “normal” but it isn’t a question of what is “normal”. It is a matter of attraction, emotions, feelings and it is not learned. If you liked the captain of the football team a bit more than just admiration for his sporting prowess or you wanted to date him – that was “normal” too. It is pretty much a given in history that opposites do not always attract. But it’s “not normal” to you – so instead of trying to understand why you fear it so much – what about learning about same sex relationships in history, in your family and in your community (and the world). I would bet some of your biggest “role” models were LGBT. You might not know they were LGBT but that is pro forma in some political parties. The ones outed were really vehemently anti gay but oops – I guess they were framers of that “LGBT Agenda” you are so afraid of. They are now retired or in jail. Some are even registered sex offenders but not for LGBT issues. The RSO are child molesters. Members of other political parties in the US and actually worldwide seems to have made peace with their demons and the world is enjoying the minds and visions of many LBGT politicians who started their careers out by being out. No shame in their game. I look forward to a time when no LGBT human has to “come out” or use a qualifier before their name, title, job position or anything else. So moron in Florida in government – driven by fear and loathing, isn’t it about time in our history we start seeing all humans as humans and stop worrying because IT IS NOT ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. And if you were really concerned about “our” children – you would work harder to create a world class educational system before we imprison our future generations with propaganda and lies that suit really nasty agendas that are non-equal, non-inclusive and bigoted.

I grew up in the age of “wonder” drugs. New discoveries for diseases that needed eradication. Dedicated researchers who had devoted decades to finding cures. Period. In the words of Jonas Salk, when asked about patents for his polio vaccine, he replied, “There is no patent. Could you patent the sun” and with those words the Salk vaccine eliminated – for the most part, polio. Albert Sabin developed the Sabin vaccine with the help of the Russians and it too was given freely – I received both while in grade school. I have never had polio. There was time when kids could not go swimming for fear of polio; couldn’t play with others for fear of polio and people whose lives were lived in a contraption called an “iron lung” that breathed for them. It was not a good thing. The moral compass and integrity of Jonas Salk and Albert Sabin pointed in a different direction and they found a cure that was made available to everyone. Polio is largely gone from the planet and with the efforts of the Gates Foundation may soon be simply extinct.
Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath which includes the words “First do no harm”. I don’t think it includes the words – do not treat those with no money. I could be wrong. I am not certain what Big Pharma swears to do – but one thing it knows how to do is make money. In my very skewed way of thinking if you are in the business of finding treatments and cures for deadly diseases, your motives should include making sure as many of those afflicted get them. My first hint of the slippery, slimy slope Big Pharma had chosen were the TV and print ads for prescription drugs – to the public. I couldn’t figure out whyBig Pharma was appealing directly to consumers for medications that had been the sole domain of the prescribing physician. And the laundry list of side effects – read by a serious voice – was a legal requirement. And scary. In print it required pages. Humans are gullible. We want quick fixes. Better, quicker fixes; an app for a cure. Sneeze? Wheeze, scratch, fidget, get the runs – watch and listen – an ad will tell you which med to “ask your doctor about”. (One appears to come with two free bathtubs but I am not sure). I have a suspicion doctors do not like to asked about these things. But Pharma spends a lot on consumer ads. Does this expand profit or eat into it. Someone should ask.
It used to be that Baby Boomers, who were usually old Hippies, had the PDR or the US Pharmacopeia stored away in their heads somewhere. I did. In the 60’s we knew who made what and the side effects, the contraindications and the uses to which these meds were put. Words like “sulfate, hydrochloride, spansules, tartrate and indole rings” flowed poetically from many of us who chose an alternative lifestyle. And FYI – the “meth” we spoke of was not the meth cooked in kitchen and garages. Ours came straight from drug companies; as my son used to say: “Back when drugs were good for you”. He was not far wrong. Such was our mindset. Bad drugs were cocaine and heroin. For me they still are.
Which takes us to 2014 and BIG Pharma – the profit stream that can mean life or death – your very own.
Recently a small “pharm” created a “cure” for Hepatitis C (for certain genotypes. and not a 100% cure – more like 95%). It made it through clinical trials, appeared and appears to be very beneficial and was approved for use by the FDA. Millions of us have this virus which didn’t even have a name before the 90’s. Millions didn’t know they had it. Millions still don’t. It is global. It is a slow progressor and can be asymptomatic for some and the virus is only interested in the liver. Unlike HIV – it does not wreak the same havoc with the immune system but many with HIV also have HCV and this is a horrid situation. Adding insult to injury. Unlike HIV (in its early days) HCV is possible to acquire by anyone who might be exposed through blood transfer. Unlike certain cancers it can afflict males or females equally. So,unlike many more publicized viral infections it can get lost in the shuffle. But if you have it – you could be facing cirrhosis, liver cancer or chronic fatigue and for many, a liver transplant. It is more complicated than this but that is a nutshell.
Voila!!! Someone finds a really effective oral treatment that can nail and rid many a body of it without the hideous side effects of previous treatments (interferon and ribaviran are two). A ORAL medication that is shown to be extremely effective, short regimen and now what? Oh, now here’s the price tag for this: $84,000 for an 84 day course. ACA, Medicare and insurance companies are not happy campers. I am not a happy camper. I have the right genotype and I have Medicare – but I am short about $84,000. Which brings me back to Big and small Pharma and their duty of care to cure if they can ,incurable diseases that will hugely reduce organ transplants, hospital care, rejection drug costs and generally better this country, both financially and medically . Do they even have a duty of care or do they first shun no profit. A drug company will tell us the costs for developing effective and important new drugs is astronomical – but who ever asks to see a breakdown of those costs? Seriously. The company I have in mind is publicly traded so showing investors a HUGE profit is, I suspect, far more important that cleaning up some sick livers. The Pharm contrasts the $84K spent to the cost of liver transplants but if this drug can reduce dramatically the need for this procedure, it makes more sense to dispense it to more people. And on the subject of liver transplants: donor organs are just that – donated. You cannot go to the doc and say – “okay let’s get me a new liver – when shall I come back” because you may never get one. So a liver transplant v. a high percentage cure is not a bet I would take to my turf accountant. I find it a specious argument.
But it gets better. Oh yes it does. It is perfectly legal for Pharma to sell pricey drugs to foreign countries at very discounted prices. Let’s say Egypt has a large load of cases of – let’s say – HCV – a pharm with a good product that can achieve maximum results can be had at a 90+% discount. Feeling edgy right about now? There’s more. Individual state Departments of Corrections can choose to give their felons and bad folks, let’s say, a certain high result drug for about a $3750 per inmate pop. So let’s say a slammer treats everyone – it could cost up to $315,000,000 to cover them all. Which takes us back to the duty to heal. The duty to cure. The duty to care? And my question is simply this: when does the humanitarian good exceed the addiction to profit. For me, right about now. It gets my goat.

I have been lazy and busy for the last few month – wasting perhaps valuable and pithy thoughts on FB. But today my heart is broken and I am in mourning for a little boy I do not know. His name is Leiby Kletzky and he would have been 9 years old next week. Now he is dead. Like most of this country I paid some attention to the trial of Casey Anthony – an ordeal almost 6 years old and one that resulted in an acquittal based on lack of a case. The DA in Orlando screwed up. Whatever we learn now about this matter will always be fraught with doubts but Casey Anthony is protected by double jeopardy so she may be a pariah – but she will go on her way. I don’t much care to be very honest.
Today I got an email from a list I am on called Hatzolah – a volunteer Jewish ER service and this one caught my eye. It told of a little boy walking home from day camp in borough Park Brooklyn who was kidnapped, murdered and dismembered by a member of the same neighborhood. This happened yesterday – not three years ago. Leiby was a little Orthodox Jewish lad with glasses, a yarmulke and sidelocks and sneakers coming back from day camp. A little boy. The family’s only son. His mother was on her way to meet him but he got lost and a man with a similar look drove by and we imagine Leiby asked for directions. Leiby got into the car. We will never know what he said but tonight he will be mourned and buried.
The man presumed innocent until proven guilty Levi Aron is a quiet, religious loner who lived in his parent’s home. He was not married and he worked full time. He only known crime was pishing in public. I suspect most men have done this. One can only assume that there were very dark parts in his head and where his soul might have once been. He has supposedly admitted to what he did to Leiby. What he did was so heinous and ugly you can read the tabloids to get the details. A parent should never know such things can happen to children. Such things should never happen.
While I write this I am waiting for the real press to tell us about Leiby and his short but beloved life. The sisters who must have adored him, the mother who treasured him; the father who planned in his heart for the 13th birthday on which he would become a man. I am waiting for the outrage and the anger and the fury that accompanied the death of Caylee Anthony. A child no more or less precious than this little boy. I am waiting for the outcry, the keeners, the wailers, the sign carriers who will demonstrate for Leiby and I know I will be even sadder because none of that will happen. And I would ask you who have loved any child to make sure it does. Because it matters just as much.

Twelve years ago my husband was pistol whipped where he worked. The assailant hit him several time on the left side of his head leaving him with a closed head trauma, permanent disability, severe headaches and laundry lists of ongoing side effects that have gotten worse instead of better. For many years we thought this injury was caused by a closed fist until an eyewitness mentioned it had been a gun butt that was used. The men were armed. That is the full disclosure part.
When the framers wrote our constitution the second amendment was logical to me. A war had just been fought, trespass and killings still were a part of the landscape of 1776. Added to that many Americans shot for food. Disallowing guns to me seemed like a bad idea. I often think today we confuse the framers with the store front fortune tellers who can see all and tell all for a price. The men who wrote the constitution were not seers. They did not appear to have divine vision neither did they claim to have insider future info that guided them. I think they wrote a damn fine outline for a new and revolutionary country. An untried experiment. Until the American and French revolted royalty pretty much called the shots and it was an iffy business. In France (pre-1789), the birth of prince and then a princess was called the “choix du roi”. First you have an heir and then you marry off your daughter to another crown prince and gain more of everything. Marie Antoinette was an arch duchess of Austria. So one of the jobs of the framers was to abolish this entitlement of one ruling class and make everyone equal (sort of). What I’m not sure of is how long they expected this country to last or grow. Certain inalienable rights however were declared and bearing arms was one of them. You did not have to be a soldier of the king to strike fear into people who threatened your sovereignty.
Sadly the folks who like to shoot guns and desire to own and wear them are not always the good citizens. The bad guys too are equally entitled to have them. The 2nd amendment said nothing about shooting nor did it specify under what circumstances the arms could be used. Talk about your open to interpretation clause. The framers simply (I think) did not want Mr. John Q. American to be invaded by gun-toting foreigners who were going to steal their land and freedom. And I agree.
I am confused today about guns and gun laws and killers (well – not the killers). I do not own a gun for one reason only. I fear I would use it and I do not want that responsibility. Like the bell, once the bullet leaves the chamber it has its own path and once it’s on it, people can get hurt or killed. Like yesterday. So while I respect the second amendment for its desire to protect Americans from all enemies, foreign and domestic – I am not sure enough people really understand and truly respect the amendment and how profound it is. We live in confusing times. And as an aside – I think it is time for SCOTUS member Scalia to have at least the Minnesota Multiphasic

Each fabulous empire had it peak and then fell like the ones before it. Without this shit we would not have archaeology. Basic fact.
It is audacious, therefore, for this country to imagine it will last forever as the bright shining symbol of all that is good and great on this planet. We refuse or simply fail to see ourselves reflected in the mirror of history. Other countries learn far better from their pasts and accept truths we think were made true at Disney Studios.
As mentioned today in the media: If the only reason for the GOP is to destroy the Dems – a word of warning; they will also fall on their swords and we will have some kind of new and very scary government. Our vaudeville Congress and “partiers” have made us a joke worldwide for our retro revivalist politics, bigotry and narrow views. Step back a little – We are no longer a great nation of hopes and promises kept – we are a nation of angry, obsolete petty snake oil salesmen – promises are made and the Loyal Opp makes it its job to see they cannot be fulfilled.
This is no longer a country I recognize. One party systems fast become one man systems and in this country we hold our politics in such high esteem we barely pay attention to how many rotten apples sit in the halls of Congress waiting for job. It must smell like hard cider by now. I would advise those southwest of our country – those who think they can achieve the American Dream to pack warmer clothes and keep moving until they hit Canada.
It is hard to continue loving a land that gave so much to so many only to have shot itself in the foot over bigotry and imaginary fears. Those who fear the “Nanny” state are the ones who need supervision and limits the most. People who know what their limits are have no reason to fear anything in terms of grift, graft and greed. It’s not the crime that brings regrets to the political thieves – it’s the getting caught. The United States is out of control. And it scares me to death.

Barack Hussein Obama is the downfall of the United States of America. That what they say. That is why the GOP haunts the House. But their justification for this is so clear and simple I felt I should share what I call the more correct views of the Loyal Opposition
1. Wrong name. Gall, nerve and audacity my ass. That is
an UnAmerican name.
2. Hawaii? Maybe – but some reps have never even been to Hawaii
Elitist place to born.
3. The Color. Time to say it strong and say it proud. He and his entire
Negro family are living in our President’s home. Even the damn dog is not
only black but some kind of Kennedy gift.
4. Harvard. Get real. Only welfare children and foreigners go to
Harvard now. He is probably both. This is an elitist feel good charity college.
5. Law Review? Never even heard of it.
6. Smoked the rope and inhaled the dope. A typical n-word hobby. Inner city-
that is straight outta Compton. The GOP does not roll in Compton.
7. Healthcare reform. So now we are grouped into the same category as places like Argentina, Brazil Canada Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico Panama, Peru Uruguay, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela , Greenland AND Austria, Andorra, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal,[61] Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine[62], Belarus[63], Moldova[64], the United Kingdom.[65] . and Ireland. Also Israel and that figures doesn’t it. If you get sick in the US it is NOT our problem. If you die broke. We do not care. If you have a baby and do not want it – leave it by the side of road. You should not have opened your legs.
8. Diplomatic dinners. Not on our dime – go to Shakee’s or Henry’s Soul Cafe. They are both in areas where you will not stand out.
9. Trips. Quite the globe trotter unlike previous presidents from our party. Get real MISTER Obama – no country with values really wants people like you in their midst. Read some real history and believe it.
10. Queen Elizabeth. The Queen is never to be touched. Your wife had the kind of nerve reserved for Royal Families. You do not know your place.
11. THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE. Alfred Nobel invented dynamite. Those folks in Norway should have blowed you up real good. The committee that awards that stupid prize is clearly paid off by someone in the commie shadows. They keep giving it to Other Side Presidents. That will change.
12. Rahm Emanuel. The Jew. George Lincoln Rockwell – the assassinated founder of the American Nazi Party said it right when he created the term “N****r Jew Jazz” to describe that funky music. Rahm Emmanuel had no business telling anyone what to do. He clearly did not know his place either. You people take much more than we want you to have. That will end soon.
13. Basketball. Next you will try to bring back the Negro League.
These are but a few of the egregious wrongs Mr. Obama has done to OUR country and now we will see just who buys their suits at Hart Shaffner and Marx, who sends their kids to private school and whose seditty (yes she is) wife AND mother-in-law shop at J.Crew.
Additions to these wrong acts and the harm to OUR country may be posted in the comments section. If anyone from their side reads this – share it. In fact share it with anyone you like. Unlike much of GOP info it has been fact checked for facts when getting caught in a lie would require additional lies and money to fix. We intend to bring in American values, Christian prayer and if we do not do another thing in the next two years, a new name for Jim Crow that we can pass as an earmark and then enforce.

Part 1. A little background
It is hard not to hate Israel. Here is a little country that just won’t go away. And it’s got an army of willing soldiers – no burnt out prison drop outs recruits – the IDF loves Israel. They know how to do their jobs and more than that – they know why they are doing them. Sitting on a piece of spiritually important land that has been under siege since time immemorial – they cover their borders and do what they must to protect their country.
Israel’s larger problem – one of many – is that it is full of Jews. Nobody likes Jews – a case in point was the nastiness in WW2 that Hitler didn’t solve, to his regret. But Hitler’s idea had a huge family tree and Jew hating, Jew-berating and Jew-baiting has been an historical pastime since easily 93 CE. Well a game that can last that long isn’t gonna disappear quickly.
Israel became Israel a long time ago and before other newer religions co-opted the area – Jews held the stewardship of Israel and they held it seriously. The West Wall of the Temple – in size alone – is an indication of just what the Israelis were able to create a long time ago. Smitten, smited, smote – they soldiered on moving like a tribe of outcasts throughout their Diaspora. In Arab lands they became “dhimmies”. “Dhimmies can never be citizens but they do have to pay and they pay and pay and pay at the whim of whomever is in charge. The do NOT have equal rights. They serve a purpose because they know how to work and take care of their own. The image of a Jewish dhimmi laying around sucking on a hookah, out of work, may have happened – but I haven’t found any reference to it. SO the fact they contribute – despite Draconian code and laws – is just another reason to hate them. Fact is that Judaism follows so many holy observances that it’s hard to have time to work and pray and plot.
Israel is a productive country. What? Jews aren’t farmers or factory workers. It has scientific and manufacturing sectors, garment trades, agriculture and all the talents the Diaspora brought together in 1948 (and of course before). And Jews are a creative and talented people. In the 101 year history of Alfred Nobel’s Prize – 180 of the winners have been Jews – from various countries – but Jews. People hate that. For the record nine Muslims have won the Nobel Prize; five of which have been for Peace*. (*There is an interesting argument about this which is too long to discuss here.) Mostly they figure some huge Jewish conspiracy rigged it all and so the prizes aren’t all that important. But ask someone casually if they were to win the Nobel Prize for anything – how would they feel? The answer is usually the same. The time for the International Zionist New World Order speech never goes away but you all know what it is.
I won’t bore you.
Part 2 A little foreground.
And now it comes to Gaza. Gaza is a political and ideological and religious mess. There are so many sanctions related to it that I would never get them all in order and/or I would bore you to tears. Let’s just say that Israel relinquished the Gaza Strip by accord and let it go. When a terror group (Hamas) won the elections in Gaza – the surrounding countries seemed to have a problem with that, including Israel. Israel built a big wall. Not very neighborly but ghetto mentality creates ghetto ingenuity. Gazans went south to their brother in faith and purpose – Egypt – Egypt built a wall. Draw your own conclusions.
Into the picture comes the Guerilla Flotillas. “Humanitarian” ships that have been offered docking and offloading in two countries – Egypt and Israel. The offering countries also agreed to get the goods to Gaza right away. Cyprus refused to allow to dock. How rude. I can see not trusting Israel – but Egypt. What’s the problem? Israel told the ships not to approach an embargoed Gaza. The Guerilla Flotillas did it anyway. Israel went to stop them and all hell broke loose. People were shot, people were injured and people are mad. Now some idiot Irish ship is chugging to where it doesn’t belong to try the same thing. Turkey (who thinks someone recently died and put them in charge) has issued stern warnings to “dem Jews”.
Part 3 My own observation
In my opinion there is not a two state resolution – a simple look at the map of the area will show a first grader you cannot accept a country in pieces in another country you hate. Illogical, a waste of effort, time and money. Humanitarian aid is abundantly available from dozens on non-allied agencies – their books are clean and show no ties to Jihadis. (Oops – forgot Jihad – the engine that drives all this).
The received wisdom is that Gaza is a peace seeking, failed and barren state under siege with clean hands. This happened because Israel set it free and then Hamas took over. I would say it speaks more to the ability of Hamas to oversee a country than it does Israel letting it go. From the pix I have seen recently Gaza has a lot of food, people drinking coffee at cafes and plenty of potatoes. Smart Jews probably photo shopped them – but they look real to me.
So I can see why so many people hate Israel. And those crafty, clever, money making, smart productive Jews. What I cannot see is the rationale. Just as the QED in the Guerilla Flotillas. They sound more like a stupid, provocative act designed to force Israel’s hand and bring in things other than food and medicine. After the last 9 years – Why is this so hard for people to imagine. Or shall I dust off my burqua?

I would be stunned and relieved if even one of the loyal opposition to our current administration – instead of vehemently protesting “I am not a bigot” (sounding like you know who, who was “not a crook”) would say something like this: “Well, I can’t say that I’m completely comfortable with having a black man as president. I never thought it would happen in my time and it is such a new concept to me that it may be pushing buttons I thought I had overcome”. Wouldn’t that be refreshing and honest? Wouldn’t it help to explain why this president has been lambasted with some of the nastiest, vilest and unnecessary comments I have ever heard in my life about a sitting president. For all the names I called Bush – and I did, I never imagined some of the things Mr. Obama has been accused of. How does the GOP and its Republican zealots get anything else done? Granted the arrival of Facebook and Twitter has brought us all to a new and possibly dangerous place in society. And I suppose if we had these networks four years ago the fur would have flown then – but the people who actively hate our president are vitriolic and relentless. If I had ever imagined Obama’s presidency was going to be a battleground of dirty fighting I might have continued my move toward Canada and said goodbye to Hollywood.

Taking stock of Stockholm and Copenhagen in the last week has led me to some conclusions that may not sound very patriotic, but honesty should not be usurped by mislaid love of country. You can love your country without loving some of what is done in its name. The same goes for your neighbor.
Copenhagen. In order to speed greed you have to be able to use every tool you have to get there. Greed is a global goal. Or the spoils of greed. And why not – I think we have reached a tipping point (thank you MG) where all the fingers in all the dikes are not going to make enough of an impact to save much of anything. Sounds hopeless but it may be more truth than anyone can bear to utter. I was green in the 70’s – what fun being laughed out of conversations about destroying the planet and the small steps that could be taken to slow this down. And if that wasn’t annoying enough – being green was expensive (as it is now) and impeded by the newest in living better through chemistry. No one cared about Three Mile Island or Union Carbide or the Woburn Cancer Cluster. A few (hundred thousand) souls were a small sacrifice for Big Biz to absorb in the pursuit of money. Collateral damage without even a war. That was 40 years ago.
We have made huge strides in our pursuit of the Money and the Brand. As Pogo said “We have met the enemy and he is us”. He is. No one wants to lower emissions by charter. If they sign up then they have to be responsible and we cannot have that and corporate sovereignty. Copenhagen was not quite what we had in mind. So while the planet slimes and slurps and melts and freezes and generally goes the way of a Styrofoam cup – there is good news too – we have found water on the Moon. Get ready to play the collectible, limited edition of Lunar Monopoly.
Stockholm. White tie is never unpleasant to see. And President Obama looked wonderful and a little confused in his as he accepted the Nobel Prize.
But the point is this: Any president in 2009 has inherited 8 years of a war without a point. Obama is doing what Sadam-obsessed W should have continued to do when he deployed Oct 7 2001. Instead he drained our country of soldier’s blood to get an imaginary enemy. We are now back to square one/Oct 7 2001 when the target was Al Qaeda in Afghani/Pakistan. He is merely doing – and not something I like either – what W should have done and won.
I am not sure Mr. Obama should have won the Nobel Peace Prize. I doubt he thinks so either. And as he sends troops into no-win Afghanistan it is an even harder accolade to accept or deserve. Ah well. Unfortunately they do not yet have a Nobel War Prize. Or a Nobel Door Prize.
